 Non sông nào phải buổi bình thời

Thú đánh nhau chi khéo nực cười

Cá vực, chim rừng, ai khiến đuổỉ

Núi xương sông tuyết, thảm đầy vơi

Ngựa phi chắc có hồi quay cổ

Thú dữ nên phòng lúc cắn người

Ngán ngẫm việc đời chi nói nữa

Mountains of bones, rivers of frost—sorrow fills and spills.
A galloping horse will one day turn its head,
Wild beasts must be watched when they bare their teeth.
Weary of worldly matters—what more is there to say?
By the pond, I drink and sing, carefree at play.
